Six Days on the Run
As of Wednesday, September 6th, local time, law enforcement agencies had been conducting an intensive six-day search for Danelo Cavalcante, a 34-year-old Brazilian national. Hundreds of law enforcement officers, supported by helicopters, drones, and tracking dogs, were engaged in a massive operation to locate the fugitive.
Cavalcante executed his daring escape from the Chester County Prison in West Chester, located approximately an hour’s drive from Philadelphia, on August 31st at 08:33 local time.
The Chester County District Attorney’s Office issued a statement on Facebook, as reported by AFP on Thursday, September 7th, urging residents to lock their doors, inspect their vehicles and belongings, and maintain vigilance regarding their surroundings. The fugitive was last seen on Tuesday, September 5th, local time.
Sightings and Elusive Pursuit
George Bevins, a spokesperson for the Pennsylvania State Police, reported to reporters that a resident had sighted Cavalcante on the evening of Tuesday, September 5th. He stated, “The team searched the area for hours but couldn’t locate him.”
On Wednesday, prison officials released a video illustrating how Cavalcante, who is serving a life sentence for fatally stabbing his girlfriend, managed to escape.
In the video clip, the convict, wearing a white T-shirt, jeans, and sneakers, is seen scaling two walls before mounting the roof and fleeing.
Bevins cautioned residents that Cavalcante is likely to break into homes to seek food, clothing, and other supplies.
